"My vegetable love should grow/Vaster than empires and more slow" is an example of A) paradox
B) hyperbole
C) metaphor
D).simile

Having a hard time, I'm tempted to say A) Paradox, what do you guys think?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

I would say the correct answer is B. hyperbole.

Hyperbole is a figure of speech that authors use when they want to exaggerate things. So this 'vegetable love' cannot possibly grow larger than empires - the poem just wants to demonstrate the power and intensity of this love by using the figure of hyperbole. A paradox would include two completely opposite things, and vast and slow are not opposites.

Answer 2
Answer: Base on the question where as asking to choose among the following choices that states the correct figurative speech that could support the said phrase, and base on my research, the answer would be letter D. Simile. I hope you are satisfied with my answer and feel free to ask for more if you have question and further clarification

D) Energetic

Answers

Answer: C) Tranquil

Explanation: In his poem "Chicago", Carl Sandburg's depiction of the city of Chicago is all except tranquil. In this poem, Sandburg says that Chicago is loud, busy and full of action. Therefore the city is all but tranquil or calm. He reacts to the people who call the city brutal and cruel. He answers that although there are prostitution and crime, the city is alive and growing with working people who build and rebuild.

D. Tranquil

Since being that chicago is a rough and tough type of city why would it be calm?

Which one of the following are tips to study more efficiently ? A . Maintain a study area and take naps B. Vary activites and reward yourself C. Keep a to do list and multi task D . Keep careful notes to avoid asking questions or emailing an instructor

Answers

Personally, I think the correct answer is B.
It is important to vary activities often to avoid becoming too tired or bored with one same activity. Rewarding yourself upon completing a certain part is also relevant because you will be giving yourself incentive to continue working more.
A bit of B and D but if you have to choose one I would do B.

Which sentence correctly punctuates a direct quotation from the publication Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention? “According to a publication, “Any organized team activity should demonstrate a commitment to injury prevention.” According to the publication "Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention," "Any organized team activity should demonstrate a commitment to injury prevention." According to the publication Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention, "Any organized team activity should demonstrate a commitment to injury prevention." “According to a publication any organized team activity should demonstrate a commitment to injury prevention."

Answers

The correct answer is the 2nd option (According to the publication "Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention," "Any organized team activity...").

Both publications and direct quotations are surrounded by quotation marks. Notice that there is no comma before the name of the publication. To understand why, take out "the publication." You're left with: According to "Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention," "Any organized team activity..." It wouldn't make sense if there was a comma before the name of the publication in this case (According to, "Childhood...).

Answer:

According to the publication "Childhood Sports Injuries and Their Prevention," "Any organized team activity should demonstrate a commitment to injury prevention."
