In a recent contest, the mean score was 210 and the standard deviation was 25. a) Find the z-score of John who scored 190 b) Find the z-score of Bill who scored 270 c) If Mary had a score of 1.25, what was Mary’s score?

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:

a)

b)

c) Mary's score was 241.25.

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean and standard deviation , the zscore of a measure X is given by:

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

a) Find the z-score of John who scored 190

b) Find the z-score of Bill who scored 270

c) If Mary had a score of 1.25, what was Mary’s score?

Mary's score was 241.25.

Answer 2
Answer:

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula for normal distribution is expressed as

z = (x - µ)/σ

Where

x = scores in the contest.

µ = mean score.

σ = standard deviation

From the information given,

µ = 210

σ = 25

a) The z-score of John who scored 190

z = (190 - 210)/25 = - 20/25 = - 0.8

b) The z-score of Bill who scored 270

z = (270 - 210)/25 = 60/25 = 2.4

c) If Mary had a score of 1.25, what was Mary’s score,

1.25 = (x - 210)/25

Cross multiplying,

25 × 1.25 = x - 210

x = 31.25 + 210 = 241.25

Mary's score is 241.25

You look at the 10,00 place and that is a 1 and look to the left that is 8 5 and above give it a shove! So it would round to 20,000
12345 because it is less then 15000 you round it down to 10000. so basically if it's 15000 or more you round up and if it's less then 1500 you round down

You don't have any variables... you're graphing a constant.
It's literally a straight line at 70.
It would just be a straight line sideways at 70

Melody stated that the sum of a positive and a negative integer equals a negative integer or 0. Use these numbers to answer the questions:

–7, 3, 8, –5, 7

(a) Is this statement always true, sometimes true, or always false? Write three equations to support your answer.

(b) Pretend that you need to explain to a friend what happens how you determine whether a sum will be positive, negative, or 0 when adding a positive and a negative decimal.

Answers

(a) I'd say sometimes true. 3 + -7= -4 , -5 + 3= -2 , 8+-5=3, 7+-7=0

(b)  I'm not too sure about this one but I what i know is that if the positive number is higher than the negative number it will be a positive. If you are adding both a negative number and a positive number that is the same value it will be 0. And if you are adding a negative that is higher than the positive it will be a negative number.

I hope this helped a bit.. (:
